Featuring:  Chappy Challenge Event

Organisers of the annual Chappy Challenge say the event exceeded their expectations and was a resounding success.

More than 230 competitors took part in the event, held in Boonah, which includes various running and cycling races as part of the program.

Entries were up by 60 per cent compared with the 2016 event.

More than $8000 was raised on the day, with the money going towards several school chaplaincy programs in the Scenic Rim region.

This year’s Chappy Challenge also took on greater meaning, with the 95km ride being named after popular Beaudesert man Darryl ‘Dazzler’ Dickson.

Mr Dickson was tragically killed when hit by a truck while on a morning ride last year.

The 95k Dazzler attracted 34 entrants who rode from Boonah through the rolling hills of the Scenic Rim and out to Mount Alford before returning back to town.

The race began with an emotional speech from Mr Dickson’s daughter Michaela and a 2.5km procession led by his wife Karen.

The most popular race of the day was easily the 5km run with 115 people taking part.
